Fees
Sage Psychological Services is a private billing clinic dedicated to providing affordable and holistic mental health support. In line with this commitment, clients accessing our services through a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP pay an out-of-pocket gap fee of only $81.05 per session. Our standard fee as of 2025 is $180, with a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session (effective 1st July 2025). By keeping the gap fee low, we ensure that high-quality and holistic psychological support remains accessible, especially compared to the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee of $300 per session.
Please note that clients who commenced services with Sage Psychological Services at a different rate will continue to be billed at their originally agreed fee.
Please note that fees may differ if accessing services through third-party funding bodies such as NDIS, DVA, ICA and Workers' Comp. These fees are set according to the current schedules of those organizations and may be higher or lower than the private billing fee. Please confirm with your psychologist prior to service to confirm

Medicare Rebate
Medicare offers rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. In order to obtain Medicare rebates, you need to first visit your GP and explain your mental health concerns to obtain a referral (also known as a Mental Health Care Plan). It is necessary to book a longer consultation with your GP so they have adequate time to develop a care plan with you. Your GP will complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) with you and provide you with a letter of referral. Please note you must provide these documents prior to your first session at Sage Psychological Services.
Your GP will provide you with the first 6 sessions, and following these 6 with your psychologist, you will need to revisit your GP for the final 4. Following your appointment, Sage will process the fee of the appointment as well as lodge the patient claim on your behalf. The rebate can be expected in your nominated account within 48 hours.
It is important to note that third party funders such as Medicare do not pay late cancellation or missed appointment fees. These fees are your responsibility, even if your treatment is normally funded by a third party.

Private Health Rebate
Rebates may also be available from your private health insurance. The amount of rebate available varies across different health insurance providers and levels of cover. If you would like to know the amount of rebate prior to your first session, you will need to contact your health fund.

Out of Pocket
You can also choose to access our services without a MHCP. If you have exceeded your allotted Medicare rebated sessions for the year, or choose to pay independently for any other reason, an invoice will be generated and emailed to you.

Department of Veteran Affairs
At Sage Psychological Services, we are proud to support veterans through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). If you hold a White or Gold Card, you may be eligible for psychological care with no out-of-pocket cost. With a referral from your GP, you can access up to 12 sessions initially, fully bulk billed to DVA at the rate outlined by DVA at the time of your appointment. Our team is here to provide compassionate, professional support tailored to your individual needs, helping you navigate challenges and strengthen your wellbeing.

NDIS, Workers' Compensation or ICWA
If you are accessing services through third-party funding bodies such as National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Workers’ Compensation, or the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA), fees may differ as these are set according to the current schedules of those organizations. We encourage clients to confirm the applicable fee when arranging an appointment, as rates can vary depending on the funding pathway. In these cases, clients are required to advise prior to their initial appointment as additional details may need to be confirmed.

Cancellation or Missed Appointments
We are a busy practice so in order to provide a quality service, we ask that you give least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or postpone your appointment. If you provide us with less than 48 hours’ notice and there is not a reasonable explanation, you will be charged 50% of your full consultation fee.
If you fail to attend and provide no notice, unless there is a reasonable explanation, you will be charged 100% of the consultation fee. We will provide you with reminder emails, however, it is your responsibility to manage your appointment times.
If you are late for an appointment, your session may be less than 50 minutes in duration. Please note you will need to pay the full amount in these circumstances, however your insurance rebate (if any) may be reduced.
